How does Chinese injection molding factory work?
The main work of injection molding factory is to provide plastic processing service, turning plastic into plastic products. ACO Mold is a Chinese injection molding supplier, providing one-stop plastic processing service of mold making & injection molding. We have our own well-equipped factory in Shenzhen China.
After receiving inquiry about injection mold manufacturing and injection molding project from customer, ACO Mold firstly should know the requirements for the products from customer, such as product color, quantity, finish, materials etc. It is best to send product drawings in 3D to the injection molding supplier, so the molding supplier can make mold design according to your drawings and requirements for the product, further making injection mold. 3D printing sample is also ok. We can do reverse engineering design according to your sample.
Before mold making, ACO Mold firstly did DFM for manufacturability and product analysis, giving customer a good idea about parting line, gating method, ejection etc. Once DFM is confirmed and approved by customer, we start mold design immediately and order mold steel and mold base in advance. Then we build injection molds. During mold processing, ACO Mold regularly report mold making progress, such as mold rough machining, precision machining, mold fitting etc. Mold manufacturing is a complex work, mainly including works as below:
1. Mold rough machining
The so-called roughing machining is to machine the general shape, such as mold cavity or core of the injection mold with a machine tool. The precision of the machine tools and tools used for roughing are relatively inferior, so the mold processing speed will be faster. Generally 0.15-0.3mm steel left for precision machining later.
2. Heat treatment
After rough machining, mold steel needs to be performed heat treatment to gain certain hardness, eliminate internal stress and make internal stress even.
3. Precision machining
To get designed mold dimension precision, so as to produce plastic parts that meet dimension requirement, injection molds need to be precision machined. Precision machining is much slower than rough machining, but the hardness of machined mold steel is much higher.
4. Mold fitting
Mold fitting is completed by skilled and experienced fitter. This is a work rely heavily on experience and skills of the fitter. The fitter make all the finished machined mold components assembled based on mold design drawings.
5. Mold trial
Before large volume injection molding, injection molding manufacturer will perform mold trial, sampling. The samples will be shipped to customer for verifying and approving. If samples aren’t being approved, factory will do modification and T2 sampling will be performed until samples are approved by customer.
Once samples are approved by customer, injection molding factory start produce injection molded plastic parts in large volume production.
After products production is done, we pack products into neutral carton box and labeled for free. If customers want to do retail packing, just send us packing design. Although we can’t do it in house, we do have some reliable packing suppliers. After products are packaged, we ship the goods as scheduled.
